About Me

Personal Background

I’m from Birmingham, Alabama and grew up in a Christian home on the northeast side of town in Huffman. I came to faith in Christ while in junior college and was called to ministry soon afterward. I went to Samford University for my bachelor’s and stuck around to go to Beeson Divinity School for my M.Div. After that time I met my wife, Jenn, and it didn’t take long for us to make a move overseas. We moved to Louisville, where I worked on a degree at SBTS and we had our first child, Corrie. We then moved to Southeast Asia, where we led a student ministry and I taught part-time in a seminary. It was there that Anna, Auston, and Julie were born.

We’re now back where I started in Birmingham, where I work at Beeson Divinity School and Jenn works at a physical therapist at Brookwood Baptist Medical Center down the street from me.

I love playing tennis, hiking, watching Alabama football, Friday night pizza/movie nights with the family, and especially Saturday morning coffee with Jenn. Rich Mullins and Andrew Peterson are my favorite musicians, Lord of the Rings my favorite movies, and the recliner in the living room is my favorite chair. I can never get too much coffee, spicy food, chocolate chip cookies, and I’ve found more uses for twist ties than you would think possible.
